About this policy
Phew is an iPhone app developed by Rajan Singh to help you review photos, videos and contacts. This policy explains the app's local processing, this website and support correspondence.
Photos and videos
With your permission, Phew reads the library items you make available to it, including their metadata, to identify cleanup suggestions and estimate sizes. Analysis runs on your device. Your library is not sent to us.
Compressed videos and converted stills are saved to Photos with your permission. Photo/video deletions require confirmation and move items to Photos' Recently Deleted album. Apple controls retention and recovery there. Phew cannot empty that album.
If iCloud Photos is enabled, confirmed library changes can sync to other devices. Full-size previews, compression or conversion may ask Photos to download your own iCloud original through Apple's services.
Contacts and local backups
Contacts access is optional. Phew compares contacts you allow it to access for shared phone numbers/emails and empty entries. Before changes, the app creates and verifies a local vCard backup. It retains the five most recent local backups.
You can export backups through the system share sheet or restore missing contacts from a backup. Contact deletions are not recoverable through Photos' Recently Deleted album. This version's backup and merge workflow does not support contact notes. Export important backups before deleting Phew, which removes the app's local backup files.
Contacts may also sync through accounts you have configured with Apple or another provider.
Other data stored on your device
Scan results, review choices, settings, daily cleanup counts and contact backups stay in app-local storage. A storage summary is shared locally with Phew's widget through an App Group. We do not upload these files.
Your Apple backup settings may affect app data included in device backups. Photos, contacts and Apple services remain subject to your system settings and Apple's privacy practices.
Purchases and reminders
Apple processes the optional one-time unlock. Phew uses StoreKit to check entitlement and restore purchases. We do not receive your payment-card information. Apple processes transactions under its own terms and privacy policy.
Monthly reminders are optional and scheduled locally on your iPhone. Phew does not operate a push-notification server.
This website
This website uses no analytics scripts, advertising trackers, account system or contact form. Cloudflare hosts the site and processes technical request information, such as IP addresses and request headers, to deliver and secure it. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for its practices. Server-side processing is separate from the app's local photo analysis.
When you contact support
We receive the information you choose to email, including your address, message and attachments. It is used to respond, investigate the issue and maintain necessary support records. We retain correspondence only as needed for those purposes and applicable recordkeeping obligations. You can contact us to request deletion, subject to any information we must retain.
Please avoid sending private library items, contact backups, passwords or payment details. Your email provider and any routing provider process mail under their own policies.
Your choices
Manage Photos, Contacts and notification permissions in iOS Settings. Export contact backups from the app. Deleting Phew removes its app-local data; photos/videos and contacts already saved in your system libraries remain there, subject to changes you previously confirmed and your library settings.
